One Week in Beirut

For my last stop in the Middle-East, perhaps the “cherry on top” of my trip, I landed into Beirut on a hot-summer day, with a picturesque backdrop of the vibrant green coastal mountains, nestled with white sandstone homes against the Mediterranean Sea of turquoise blue waters and vivid blue skies. It was an unexpected welcome which had me so excited for the week ahead!

I couldn’t wait to check into the Four Seasons Beirut. On arrival I was greeted by hotel staff who were very welcoming and attentive from check-in through to check-out. Seaside views of the envious Mediterranean and Zaitunay Bay seeped through the floor-to-ceiling windows and I couldn’t help but be drawn to the outdoor balcony before taking a tour of the room itself – which certainly didn’t disappoint! It was stylish, spacious with simple contemporary décor, ample closet room and a large bathroom… Yep, I was a happy girl! The Rooftop was one of my favourite spots in the hotel. I enjoyed long mornings and early afternoons lounging by the rooftop pool located on the 26th floor, with a backdrop of the entire city on one side and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea on the other. All framed by a gorgeous sail-like structure, a distinct signature feature of the hotel. In the evenings, The Rooftop would transform into an open-air lounge overlooking Beirut with sunset views and cocktails to die for! Throughout my stay the team at the Four Seasons Beirut constantly took me by surprise, with so many treats delivered almost daily to my room. From decadent chocolates, a delicious cheese and berry platter along with a bottle of Chateau Kefraya, local red wine from Bekka Valley and Lebanese sweets… all of which left my taste buds in pure-heaven!

It quickly became evident to me as to why Beirut was once known as ‘The Paris of the Middle-East’, there were so many hints of French influences through-out the sophisticated and fascinating capital. With my days and nights spent sightseeing, enjoying some of the finest local cuisine, nightlife like no other, and the shopping, oh the shopping at Beirut Souks and Aïshti!!! A land of beauty, elegance, history and culture, I couldn’t believe it had taken me so long to make it to Beirut and to finally discover this beautiful city!

Lebanon is full of surprises, every twist and turn brings with it new blue and green adventures, promises of authentic culture and so much history. I loved exploring the winding streets, taking pictures at every second, wanting to keep the movie-like scenes with me forever. I loved everything about Lebanon. It was everything I love about life rolled into one!

Beirut, I’m sure I’ll be seeing you again real soon!
